Just a few of my favorite things....

So Garrett has been super cute lately. We are making memories left and right. Just a few things to share how lucky we are.

I love it when... We tell Garrett is time to go to bed and we need to do the "Night, Night March!". We literally march and chant march, march night night march. Down the hall. Bill and I get the biggest kick out of watching him March his little bummy to bed.

I love it when... Garrett finishes at the dinner table and wants to get down...We blast off, Rocket Ship into the air. This simply consists of us counting down 3, 2, 1and throw him in the air. He gets the biggest grin on his face and laughs.

I love it when... We got a new kid music CD for Garrett's birthday. One of the songs is "Where is pointer". You know the one where they go through all of your fingers saying "Here I am, Here I am". When it gets to the pinkie he thinks that they are saying Binky (that is what we call it anyways, it may be paci, pacifier, the plug, etc to you). When the song says, Where is pinkie, he quickly guards his Binky and say no My Binky! I get the biggest laugh.

I love it when... We are potty training right now, oh how fun. Whenever Garrett is successful in his trip to the potty, he looks at me and says "I did it" with a big smile. He is so proud of himself and we are of him too.

I love it when... Each morning Garrett wakes us up around 6 am, so we don't hop out of bed to say the least. One of us will go and get him out of bed and he joins us in bed for a few minutes. Garrett always wants to be in the middle and says "Cover up Momma, Cover up Daddy". If one of us is still sleeping he will turn to the other and say, "Shhh Momma Sleeping" in a quiet voice. Then he will proceed to stealing the pillows from both of us.

I love it when... We go to pinch Garrett's Butt and he runs away and says no "My Bummy". We may have taken this game a little too far a couple of times as he has ended up in tears, crying My Bummy. My latest response was that Momma and Daddy made that Bummy and we can pinch it whenever we want to.

Just wanted to share some of the cutest things that we have discovered about this little man and his personality. We love that little guy!!!!

Timbeeerrrrrrr.... Oh No! Christmas Tree!

Yes, you read correctly these are the words that I heard this morning, well maybe just the oh no! I was in the other room folding laundry while Garrett was "watching" Mickey Mouse, his morning cartoon. When all of a sudden I heard some bells ringing. We have decorated for the holidays so, I thought oh he got into some decorations. No big deal. All of a sudden I heard the tree crash down, Oh no, and tears! I think he was trying to pull one of the bells off the tree, when it came over on him. Needless to say I am so thankful that we purchased mostly wooden ornaments three years ago. We had a mess to clean up, but a little vacuuming later and some tissues...The Healy's Christmas tree was back in business. Now, instead of be gentle, we are teaching Garrett NO Touch!

Oh the joys of having a Two year old! I never thought I would have a Christmas tree fall over!

Happy Birthday to the loves of my life!

Happy Birthday to Bill today and Garrett tomorrow. Garrett will be 2 tomorrow! It is hard to believe how much he has grown and that we have grown as a family. We decided to celebrate the two with a little house work and a party to cap everything off. We had a blast with family and friends yesterday. We are so blessed to be surrounded by such love. Here are a few pictures from yesterday. I will also take some of the house and share them soon.

But first a look back...

Toddler Version 1.11 Upgrade Request

Dear God,

I am writing today to first say thank you for the child that you afforded us the opportunity of raising. However, the model that we received, one William Garrett Healy, well we were wondering if there were any updates or upgrades available. When it comes to fun loving personality and lovableness...that feature is perfect. However, are there upgrades on the internal clock feature? Garrett's internal clock believes that the day begins at 4:30 or 5:30 am, no matter what time he goes to sleep. This is obviously not from his parental genes, nor our habits. As far as the temperament goes, I believe we are due to receive version 2.0 soon. However, we have seen previews and read a lot of about this version and would like to know if we can just skip to version 3.0 instead? Any information on these updates and upgrades would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again for the opportunity and we look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours truly,

Bill & Dayna Healy

Introducing...Mad Dog and Spike!

As many parents choose to dress their little angels adorable and cute, with teddy bears and animals, we decided to deviate from the path. What's new? Well the Healy's had a blast at Halloween, it will definitely be one to remember.

Mad Dog and Spike, full tatoos and all, getting ready for a ride!

Mad Dog and Spike, Trick or Treating.

The Binki adds to the image...

We had a great time this Halloween with family and friends. We decided to trick or treat at our house this year to meet some of the neighbors. Well when we didn't have very many trick or Treators, we packed in the car and headed to Needles (my parents street and the coolest on Halloween). We are glad we did. Garrett walked both our street and theirs when most others his age were in a wagon. He played off the tough guy persona very well. After we walked the neighborhood, we ended up at a friend of ours that lives next to my parents. They have a little girl that is the same age as Garrett and he and Lily had so much fun. Basically when Trick or Treating was over the neighbors turned it into a block party. Garrett had the latest night I think he has had since he was an infant. He was up until 11 pm until he finally crashed, when we put him in the car.

Then, thank you time change, he was wide awake at 4:30 am. At which time he came back to bed with us and proceeded to steal all of Mommy's pillows. Something about a two year old saying, "my pillows" and trying to kick you out of bed that wakes you up. He was so funny though! After stealing my pillows he proceeded to give me kisses and tell me that he loved me then climb all over Bill and I. IWe love that little guy.

Happy Halloween, Everyone! I hope you had as much fun as we did!

Finally Pictures from My Camera!!!

Well as many of you have asked for pictures. Here are some finally. We lost our camera in the move, but my parents gave us a new one when we moved into our house. However, we did not have a cord or a way to get the pictures off of the camera. I have found a way!!!! Thus, pictures....

Mom, Can I wear this today?

I'm not on the table, what are you talking about.

Bye Bye Poop!

Ok, so as I promise this is not about potty training rather some new developments in Garrett's vocabulary and speech! I was reading up on the development of a child at 20 months, the information that I read said that a child Garrett's age typically has about 10-20 words that they understand, can speak and use in the correct context. So the other day I decided to write down all the things he has been saying lately. Bill and I have been counting, he has over 30 words that he uses. We have noticed that his vocabulary has taken off since we have been at home together. I am not sure if it is timing or the difference in the teacher, but I am excited.

One of Garrett's favorite new words is "bye-bye" he says it to everyone, as we go down the isles at the grocery store he tell products and people bye-bye. He even told the lady at the check out counter bye-bye before we put the first item up on the check out. I have since informed him that he has to say hello before he can say goodbye to everyone. We are still working on this. One of Garrett's favorite shows is Jack's Big Music Show on Noggin (if you are a parent, check it out, so cute and includes some parent humor too). Anyways, at the end of the show they sing a good bye song. I have been trying to get Garrett to say bye-bye Jack at the end of the show each day. Coincidentally, he did get a chance to tell a real Jack bye-bye the other day and has started to link the item and person with his bye-bye's.

Enter story title here: We went outside to play on our new swing set this morning and were out having a great time, when I realized that Ruby (our dog) had left us a present right under one of the swings. I quickly stopped Garrett and asked him to come with me to get something to pick up the poop. We came back out to clean up the poop and as I was cleaning, Garrett says, Bye-bye Poop! Bye-bye! I just about died laughing. I told him later that we needed to include this as we went poo poo on the potty. No joke the next time we went to the bathroom, he sat down and said, bye-bye poop! While no business took place, I just had to laugh. That boy is too smart!

Home Improvements

Hello all, my apologies again, still no pictures will be attached as I need to buy something to attach the SD card to the computer. I promise that is on my list for next week. Anyways, we have been busy bee's these last few weeks. We moved in our new house and got right to work. After unpacking we decided to paint some of the house. We bought sample colors for the interior and exterior and tried just to put the sample up inside. This led to an all weekend painting affair. The kitchen, family room and hallways are now painted as well as some accents on the exterior of the house. I love it. What $100 in paint will do. Now we have our home, verses the home that grandma used to live in. We will actually paint the exterior when the weather gets cooler. Somehow, it didn't make Bill's To Do list of sweating his ass off painting after he spends all day in 100 degree heat during the week. Who really wants to do that on the weekend? Anyways, we spent this last weekend getting a new dinning room table (beautiful it conversts from square to oval and round, and can hold 6 people easily) and switching some fixtures around the house. We also have a very generous neighbor. One of our neighbors had an old swing set in his back yard and asked if we would be interested in it. He told us if we can move it from his yard to ours, we could have it. So down went the fence between the two and a little bleach and clorine later we have a swing set that is good as new. Bill and I are still planning on buying some new hardware to replace the chains on the swings, but it looks great. Garrett went out to play on it the first night and spent about an hour out there. Bill taught him how to swing like an airplane (you know on your belly). He has had so much fun running around in the back yard playing and swinging. I can't wait to see all the adventures that he has back there.

We are officially home owners!

Hey all, we finally closed on our house last Wednesday and have been moving/unpacking since that time. Today was my first attempt to get back into a routine. Garrett and I went on an early bike ride and attempted to find a park to play. We learned later that there is one in our neighborhood, we just didn't go far enough. We will try again tomorrow. Nap time is spent unpacking, hanging, and planning for the changes in the house. I absolutely love our new house, Bill and I are having fun making it our own. Our kitchen is open to the family room and it is easy to keep and eye on Garrett no matter where goes in the house. I think Garrett loves it too, because he was never able to go to his room and get a toy to return with it, being that it was upstairs. Now he gets to enjoy his room, the family room and his own bathroom all within earshot of mom. YEAH! One of the best parts is that we are back to the point where almost everything is Garrett proof, meaning we don't have to follow a foot behind him to see what he is into. Also, it is nice to have custody of our animals back, welcome home Ruby and Mouse Eater (she spent the last four months as an outdoor cat because of allergies).

Also, an update on Delaney. Things are going well in recovery, they are taking her off the medicine one day at a time, so it is slow. No news on how long they will be in the Cardiac ICU or in the hospital, it may be the end of the week or it may be another week. Only time will tell. She was removed from the ventilators yesterday and I believe they took her off the feeding tube today. Thank you for all of you who have offered your prayers, please keep them up as it will be a long recovery from surgery. The average adult takes 6-8 weeks to recover from this surgery, just imagine a 7 pound baby.

Out of the surgery and doing well

Delaney is out of surgery and doing well. She is in recovery right now and Jen and Rusty can see her within the hour. She will be in the hospital for at least a week. Please still keep her in your thoughts and prayers. She still needs your strength in the recovery process. Thank you to those that did read and pray!

Please Pray

Hey Everyone, this is a call for prayers. Many of you have heard about my cousin that has two sets of twins, one set of boys (almost 3 years old) and the other girls. Well the girls are now 8 weeks old after being born 5 weeks premature. One of them was born with a whole in her heart, Delaney. The doctors said that she would have to have surgery to repair her heart, but wanted to wait until she was at least 13 lbs, roughly October. Sunday afternoon, she was crying really badly and my cousin just didn't feel right about the situation. She was turning blue and come to find out her oxygen level was dropping down to 30%. They took her to the hospital and the team of doctors determined that the time was now, she needed surgery and needed it quickly. Jen and Rusty rushed her to Tampa, and she is currently in the children's hospital awaiting open heart surgery to repair her heart today. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers today and the coming weeks as she recovers. This tiny 8 week old baby only 7 lbs, will under go one of the hardest surgeries. She is a fighter, but we need all the prayers today and in the next few days.

I will try to post more as I hear, but for now please keep the Evans Family and especially Delaney in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you!

Pee Pee on the Potty

We recently decided that we were going to start the process of potty training Garrett. I have read up on what to expect, how to and so on. We decided that we were going to try the three day method, however we were going to wait until we moved into the new house to start. With all the transition we thought this would be better. However, Garrett has taken a great interest in potty time with Mommy and Daddy (and for those of who have never potty trained, this is normal, I am not a gross parent!) Garrett surprised me one day when I asked him if he wanted to go potty. He sat on the potty (clothes on) took off some toilet paper and wiped himself, put the toilet paper in the toilet, flushed the toilet and then we washed our hands. He has done this a couple of times now. Cute, right! Bill criticized me later, that boys don't sit or wipe (their fronts anyways). That is what happens when you hang out with Mom all day, he can watch Daddy on how to stand. Anyways, I thought to myself now would be a good time to buy a kids potty, so I did. Now we have been putty him on the potty each chance that we get just to get him used to the idea. We'll today we had a great day. I was getting him ready to get to the shower when I asked him to sit on the potty. HE DID IT!!! One of the things that I read is to make up a song to celebrate, so we did, it sounds kind of like a conga line song. So we did the conga around the house to celebrate!!! He was so excited! I know that this does not mean he is potty trained, but it is definitely a small step in this process.

As, I am writing this post, I feel like I am having a Jon & Kate plus 8 moment, where she took a picture of her kids poop and put it on the refrigerator. Don't worry, I will not be posting when that happens! And no pictures will be added or taken for that matter. No worries later Garrett's girlfriend will hear about the fact that his Mom blogged about his first pee pee on the potty!

Garrett's first piece of chewing gum

For those of you that are wondering, I was in the back seat of the car with him. Garrett had fun with a really small piece of gum.

Grandpa showed Garrett how to Floss his teeth. Every time we are in bathroom now he wants to brush and floss his teeth. Do we have good hygiene or what?
